Excellent web site,,i was aboard the minesweeper USS Valor AMS,438 ,,53-54 shipped to USS Monitaur ARL15 , in 55 she was given to Korea ,transfered to the USS Pandemus ARL 18 ,,last month we headed for GITMO where i was flown to Jacksonville Fl. for discharge 8/56.Enjoyed your site.

I served aboard the Askari from 1952 to 1955. All the guys aboard ship called me "Mac". I was a a gunner's mate under Chief Neuman. I left the Navy, and went back into radio broadcasting in 1956. I am chief engineer for Radio station KIJN AM&FM in Farwell, Texas. Need to retire at 73, but have no plans to do so.
