Comments: My dad, Jackie "Robbie" Robinson was on the Askari in the Mid '50s. Was good to read history of this ship since I had heard of these "stories" all of my life. He was a SFM, pipefitter.Would be helpfull for information on the USS Begor as he was on that ship as well!!

Comments: I was on the re-comishing in 1966 went over with the ship and served as a shipfitter 3rd class left the ship in late Aug 1967, am looking for any who served in this time frame to chat.

Comments: I remember having to paint the ship marine green. I got in trouble for painting made in Japan on the fantail.I was on the deck force most of the time and a little time in the carpenter shop. On board from Oct66-Nov67
